Quality Care from a Dedicated Team

At Greystone Dental, we’re proud of our versatility and experience. We work closely with our lab so that every crown and bridge we place meets our precision, durability, and aesthetic standards.

Whether you need a crown on top of an implant or a bridge to replace missing teeth, our customized solutions are designed to restore your smile’s function and appearance.

Crowns: Strengthening & Enhancing Your Teeth

Crowns–also known as caps–cover the entire visible portion of a tooth, serving as a protective shell that strengthens and restores the tooth’s original shape.

Crowns are an ideal solution for teeth that are broken, severely decayed, or unable to be repaired with fillings.

Crowns can be made from various materials, including gold, zirconia, and porcelain. While porcelain crowns are the most popular due to their natural tooth-like appearance, we also work with our lab to create high-quality gold crowns.

Additionally, we offer specific custom shading so that your crown can blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth, providing a natural appearance.

For patients with dental implants, we create crowns that are custom-fitted to the implants, helping to secure a perfect match for optimal function.

In cases where fillings are required, we use the CEREC machine to help create one-piece fillings that fit precisely, providing a strong and durable solution for small cavities or damaged areas of a tooth.

The process of getting a crown typically requires 2 visits:

  • First Visit: We prepare the tooth by reshaping it to accommodate the crown. An impression of the prepared tooth is then taken and sent to our trusted dental laboratory, where your crown is crafted. We provide a temporary crown to protect your tooth while you wait for the permanent one.
  • Second Visit: Once your crown is ready, you’ll return to our office to have the temporary crown removed and the permanent one fitted. We carefully check the crown for proper shade, fit, and bite before bonding it securely to your tooth.

Bridges: Filling the Gap Left by Missing Teeth

A dental bridge can be a reliable solution for filling the space left by a missing tooth or teeth. Gaps in your smile can cause neighbouring teeth to shift, leading to bite problems and further complications.

A bridge helps prevent these issues by replacing the missing teeth and restoring balance to your bite.

There are 3 types of dental bridges we work with:

  • Traditional Fixed Bridge: The most common type of bridge involves placing crowns on the teeth adjacent to the gap, with a pontic (false tooth) fused between them. Traditional bridges use metals like gold, porcelain, or a combination of both.
  • Cantilever Bridge: Used when teeth are on only one side of the gap, a cantilever bridge is ideal for areas of the mouth that do not endure heavy chewing loads.
  • Resin-Bonded Bridge: Also known as a Maryland bridge, resin-bonded bridges use metal or porcelain extensions bonded to the teeth on either side of the gap, making it a good option for replacing missing front teeth.

Placing a dental bridge also requires at least 2 visits:

  • First Visit: We prepare the surrounding teeth by reshaping them to fit crowns, take impressions to send to the lab, and place a temporary bridge to protect your teeth and maintain their position.
  • Second Visit: The temporary bridge is removed, and the new bridge is fitted and adjusted. Multiple visits may be needed to ensure the perfect fit before the bridge is permanently bonded to the supporting teeth.
